A verticle botanical wall on the Crystal Symphony

What a challenge  - this vertical wall of plants is the talking point of  the sundeck on Crystal Symphony . Quite spectacular.

Last week the Red Wigglers were wriggling.

It's been a long time since I posted any comment or photo of the gardens at the Flat Rock Playhouse  - what can I say?  I've been busy, which is simple, honest and to the point.

Was going to collect the winterberry bushes  this weekend  - after all the sale is  25% off and 6 bushes to pretty up the winter landscape of The Playhouse would be SO good........but many extenuating circumstances as to why not.  Can my budget absorb the cost?  Can we can adjust the soil in time?  Can I over winter the plants if we can't plant in time? ...and  so I went to SAFF instead. Now there's a show that will empty my wallet, but I kept a cool head and resisted the  $82.00 skein of bamboo yarn.

The next few weeks will be a fun time of wrapping up the gardens for winter's chilly evenings and frigid mornings.

I get into trouble for taking Alice's photo

Madeline and Barbara complete the monumental task of replacing 'ditch' day lilies  with white flowering hostas in the white garden.

Rudi accepts delivery of hostas from Bonnie & her brother-in-law

The Red Wiggler mobile home will travel

Vonda lovingly restores 'Boots'.

Marylou primps the conifer

Ruth and Rudi give the hostas a new home.

North Carolina State Theatre Garden Club gardeners enjoy their well earned break of hot chocolate, coffee and Rudi's delicious banana bread

Last night I read the latest  Fine Gardening magazine and Tom Johnson, the director of gardens at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston included, yarrow; Achillea millefolium as one of his four favorite four season plants.   Yes, that's the very same one we've been working so hard to get rid of and need to remove if we are going to make room for  possible new winterberry bushes!

I guess we are all entitled to our own opinions. .......
His other three are camellia, dwarf rhododendron and sweet William.
I'll bring the article for all to read at our next meeting.
